BSMI’s new “ITE Safety Testing and Certification Specifications” taking effect as of January 1, 2012

Taiwan BSMI (Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection) announced that its new “Information Technology Equipment Safety Testing and Certification Specifications”, CNS 14336-1 (Rev. 2010) will take effect and the previous one, CNS 14336 (Rev. 2005) will not be applicable any more as of as of January 1st, 2011.

Testing and certification requirements:

1. From now till December 31st, 2011, new or renewal application subject to RPC (Registration of Product Certification) or TABI (Type-approved Batch Inspection) scheme can choose either CNS 14336-1 (Rev. 2010) or CNS 14336 (Rev. 2005) to be complied with.

2. As of January 1st, 2012, new or renewal application subject to RPC (Registration of Product Certification) or TABI (Type-approved Batch Inspection) scheme is limited to comply with CNS 14336-1 (Rev. 2010).

3. For that subject to DoC (Declaration of Conformity) scheme, its DoC signed according to CNS 14336 (Rev. 2005) before the implementation date will be still valid until June 30th, 2012. However, it should complete its safety test report according to CNS 14336-1 (Rev. 2010) and resign a DoC as of June 30th, 2012.
