India TEC Update Implementation Date for MTCTE Certification

October 1st, 2018-  Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipments (MTCTE) 

The Indian Telegraph (Amendment) Rules, 2017, provides that every telecom equipment must undergo mandatory testing and certification prior to sale, import of use in India. The detailed procedure for Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipments (MTCTE) are still under draft and will be announced soon.

The testing is to be carried out for conformance to Essential Requirements for the equipment, by Indian Accredited Labs designated by TEC and based upon their test reports, certificate shall be issued by TEC. At the moment TEC has provide local test relaxation up till March 2019 to accept Foreign test reports due to lacking local test capabilities. 

The application for certification under MTCTE is to be submitted online through MTCTE Portal through which online administration of this procedure shall be carried out. 

Initial TEC implementation was set on Oct. 1 2018, but the implementation dateline will be further delayed. Per the latest update of Sep. 27, 2018, TEC MTCTE roll-out schedule has been fixed as below. Please note that the dates may also be further changed depending on the readiness of labs and TEC themselves.
